What are the consequences of watering a Macrobonsai® olive bonsai incorrectly?

Lack of watering can allow the compost to dry out completely, this will instantly kill or seriously damage bonsai, but overwatering can still lead to health problems and eventual death from root rot and some diseases.

While some species can handle periods of relative dryness, others require almost constant humidity. Watering too frequently or allowing the soil to remain moist can promote fungal infections and “root rot.” Knowing the characteristics of each species is important to know how to water a bonsai properly.
