It is normal to make mistakes in gardening, especially when nothing is known about the subject. When we first start gardening, we may think that after all, they are vegetables and need water, soil and sun to grow and be healthy; On the one hand it is true, but with this is not enough, it is better to know a little more in depth the subject. Mistakes in gardening activities can lead us to run out of plants or damage them without this being the intention.

Mistakes in gardening that should be avoided

Do not take into account species: you will always be more successful in cultivating native species than in testing exotic ones; if you still decide to experiment, be well informed of the care you require.

Deep planting: this is often the case. The way to plant correctly is taking into account the size of the root of the plant, should not be exceeded since it also needs the sun. Before covering it with earth, check that its roots are not too tight; if so, better loosen them and separate them a little.

Do not prepare the earth: just as you cannot build a house without a foundation, you cannot plant anything without preparing the land. The soil has to be removed, compost-nourished, and moist. It is important to fertilize it before planting, because changes in the soil when the seed is giving root can kill it.

Do not weed: weeds compete with plants for resources; that is not a myth and you must keep it in mind.

Plants close together: the same thing that happens with weeds occurs between plants: if they are close together, they compete for space, water and nutrients.

Do not prevent pests and diseases: a very common mistake is to believe that to our plants nothing bad is going to happen to them and not worry until it happens. Prevention is better than cure.

The lack of nutrients in pot plants: plants need nutrients, so ask in the nursery what kind of vitamins or fertilizers you can add. There are natural ways to incorporate some such as calcium. You can get it by grinding dry egg shells and then pouring the resulting powder into potting soil.

If for some reason your plant has dried and you think it is dead, maybe you can save it. Simply submerge the pot in water until it stops bubbling on the surface.
